The People
There are many people and organizations dedicated to the California condor's recovery.
The condors living free in the Big Sur area are supported by the staff and volunteers from the following organizations.
Ventana Wildlife Society
Founded in 1977, Ventana Wildlife Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to conserving native wildlife and their habitats.
They successfully recovered a breeding population of Bald Eagles in central California and are in the process of doing the same for California Condors.

Pinnacles National Park
Pinnacles National Park joined the California Condor Recovery Program as a release and management site in 2003.

Los Angeles Zoo
The Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens has housed California condors since 1967 and has been part of the captive breeding program
since its inception.
They are one of two locations where lead poisoned condors from the Big Sur area are sent for treatment.

Oakland Zoo
In the fall of 2012, Oakland Zoo joined the California Condor Recovery Program to help rehabilitate sick or injured condors.
They are one of two locations where lead poisoned condors from the Big Sur area are sent for treatment.
